Sunday, June 3. 2007PSPSSH : SSH2 Client for PSP v1.0.7 (no more lag !)Hi All, For those who haven't seen previous versions, Dropbear is a small SSH2 Server and Client running on a variety of POSIX-based platforms. It has been mainly developed by Matt Johnston (see matt's web site). PSPSSH is a port of the version 0.48.1 to the PSP. This ssh client gives you a remote access to your PC (if you have a SSH server installed of course), and you can then enter commands and run scripts as if you were directly in front of your PC. This software is usefull for linux users who might want to connect to their PC/server from anywhere using a wifi connection, and then read their mail using text based tool such as pine, elm or mutt, run text irc client, watch log files, edit configuration files, restart services etc ... Change log : What's new in version 1.0.7 : - Fix lag issue while using IR keyboard or Virtual keyboard - Update targus keymap file - Text console is now really Fullscreen Credits and license : The terminal Vt100 emulation part of PSPSSH is based on the work of Danzel for his Telnet client for PSP. The IR keyboard support is based on the work of Harald Fielker (author of the PSP IR Keyboard Library) This software is distributed under several open-source/free software licenses, and mainly the MIT/X Consortium License. See LICENSE.txt file for all details and information about it. It has been developed on linux for Firmware 1.5 and 3.03-OE, and for the IR keyboard part it has been tested using a Targus Universal IR Wireless keyboard. How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file. Download : A binary version for firmware 1.5 is available here : pspssh-fw15-bin-v1.0.7.zip A binary version for firmware 3.x-OE is available here : pspssh-fw3x-bin-v1.0.7.zip Sources are here : pspssh-src-v1.0.7.zip Thanks to Matt Johnston for Dropbear, to Danzel and Jeff Chen for their virtual keyboard, thanks once more to Danzel for the VT100 emulation, and thanks to all PSPSDK coders. Special thanks to Cool Matty, Delight1, Paul and Fanjita ... ** This should be the last release, only if major bugs are found. ** Enjoy, Zx If you want to discuss on this emulator, you can do it there : zx81's forum on dcemu network or zx81's forum on qj.net Trackbacks

Nice, the freeze and lag issues I had before are gone for me. Seems like I now have to get one of the supported keyboards. Thank you very much!
Thank you Zx!
I just tested, here, my conf: - PSP w/ 3.40-OE - SSH Servers tested are: -- a Duan Zeon 2.6.19-gentoo-r5)/sshd 4.3_p2-r1; -- a Sempron (2.6.21-gentoo)/sshd 4.5_p1-r1; -- a PS3 with Gentoo (2.6.22-r1)/sshd 4.5_p1-r1; -- a SHARP Zaurus w/ pdaXrom 1.1.0r198 (2.6.16)/sshd 4.3p1 - Using a Universal Wireless Keyboar by PalmOne. (code 20) - Tested with 1.5 and 3.4 binaries... Lets to report: The is no lag issues, this is a refresh screen issues, I mean this is the same as on 1.06, but now it stay less then before, when I type commands this shows the letters, with often refresh issues, but when I type ENTER key to execute it the screen not refreshing until I type another key... e.g. if I try ping a machine on my network .... this not show the results ... until I press other key like shift... or another... Many thanks for your detailed feedback , i have to try to reproduce this strange behavior,
Take care, Zx Awesome work!!
I have also noticed some strange things: When typing in long lines or using del on the danzeff keyboard the screen gets covered with $ , and a few other symbols.I dont know if it's a conflict with some installed programs or what. The ssh client is still functional and I can read what I'm typing unless its to long.Just so you know I'm using xubuntu on a ps3.Thanks you again zx-81!! Hello with firmware 3.40 0E-A, the ssh launch, black screen then come back to XBM
server is : OpenSSH_3.4p1 Debian 1:3.4p1-1.woody.3, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL 0x0090603f Will try with the 1.5 version in game150 and let you know. Is there any how to for newbie for targus ( where to position the keyboard ? ) Hi,
thanks for your feedback. what you described is typically what happens when you enter a wrong password ... (have a look to the ssh server connection log, to see what happened) about the targus keyboard, it's really simple you have to put the IR receptor in front of the psp IR (on the top side of the psp). Take care, Zx Hey Zx!
I just loaded up v107 after a fresh install of 3.40oea and it works an absolute treat! No lag, everything I tried worked, I even had a very sucessful elinks session going & used system-config-securitylevel-tui with no problems at all. Thanks very very much for continuing to work on this. thanks for amazing app. i spotted a possible bug; when using screen + ircii (multiple vt100 windows inside ircii screen) combination and typing something into a ircii, pspssh loses its understanding about the row count, redrawing draws only two thirds of the screen. going to another screen window and coming back solves this.
Firstly Zx, PSPSSH is a wicked app!!! Well done and thanks!
However I have one question: is it possible to ssh to a box that is out side of the local network that you are currently using? I'll try explaining the problem I am having: at the moment at home, I able to log onto my linux box using the local ip address I issued it. Now, if I try to ssh to the box using the static ip address that my isp gave me (i ve made the necesary port forwarding configurations on my router to port 22 for the local ip address) I am unable to do so and i get the message 'connection failed'. Any ideas? Thanks S And using a "normal" ssh client from outside of your home, does it work or not ?
Zx Yes, using a 'normal' ssh client works outside of my home - ive just ssh'd onto my box from my work pc.
Theres also an open wireless access point in the complex that I work in. I tried using that with my psp to access my box at home, but too no avail - i got the same error message: 'connection failed'. connection failed means that it can't open a socket to your server ... it's strange. this ssh client works only with SSH2 server (not SSH1). The best would be to look at your log on your server to see what happens.
Zx Thanks for your reply.
Ive had a look through my syslog but havent found anything. However I have spoken to a colleague of mine and he seems to think that im unable to ssh to my linux box at home via my wireless router using the static IP adress that my isp issued, because Im using NAT. He also thinks that the wireless access point that we can make use of at work, has been configured to prevent certain services from passing through - hence the reason why it doesnt work.

I understand what's going on ... You are using the 3.0x-OE version, with a static IP and it doesn't work for now (i've fix that bug asap).

salut,

i need help with the "host". idk wat goes in there, and wat goes in the user/password slots?
Hi,
This ssh client gives you a remote access to your PC (if you have a SSH server installed of course). In the host field you should add the IP or the internet name (DNS) of your PC. When setup your ssh server you had to specify user and password. Put that user and password in the user/password field. But i wonder if you had setup a ssh server on your PC, because your question means you're not so familiar with ssh stuff Cheers, Zx Add Comment
