Saturday, January 12. 2008GP2X-2600: Atari 2600 emulator for GP2X v1.0.5 *F200*Hi All, Stella is on of the best emulator of Atari 2600 game console, running on many different systems, such as Linux, Solaris, Windows, MacOS/X, WinCE, OS/2, GP2X. It has been written initially by Bradford Mott, see Stella site for details. GP2X-2600 is a port on GP2X of my previous port to PSP. My PSP version is based on the work of Aenea who was the first to port Stella to PSP. What's new this version : - Bug fix, now working with F200 (Thanks to Slaanesh) How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file. Here is a full working binary version : 2600-v1.0.5-bin.zip The source code is here : 2600-v1.0.5-src.zip Thanks to Stella team for this nice emulator, and to all GP2X-SDK developers. Special thanks to Slaanesh, Manjuu and Sbock. Enjoy, Zx. If you want to discuss on this homebrew, you can do it here : dcemu network or http://www.gp32x.com/. Trackbacks

Please do not take this the wrong way ... I am just curious.
How many people actually own a GP2X? I have never seen one nor know anyone that owns one. I live in the US. Are these perhaps more popular in Europe? That aside I would like to say I have been very impressed with your PSP ports! You are a very talented programmer and I would like to say thank you for all your hard work. If your GP2X ports are as good as the PSP's then I am sure many people will be very happy. Hi Dweezledap,
First of all thanks for your kind comment. About the GP2X, you're right i don't think there are a lot of people who own one. It's a console for geek, and imho it's more for programmers than for gamers . But if the PSP wouldn't have been hacked, with custom fw etc ... i'm sure this console would have a real success. GP2X port are nearly the same as PSP port since they share something like 95% of the code. Zx I own both. I actually owned the GP2X before the PSP, and I also actually know many people with the device. I personally prefer emulators on the GP2X if they are on par (or better obviously) than their PSP counterparts due to the fact that the GP2X simply has a better screen for vintage gaming (ie: no ghosting, filtering, correct aspect ratio..etc), not to mention the fact that there is something "right" about emulating on a machine that embraces homebrew as opposed to making every attempt to stop it
I do agree 100%
Zx Thanks for your responses. I have a little emulation site and was debating about adding a GP2X section but was not sure if there would be enough interest in it.
I was not aware that the two consoles were that similar either. Maybe I'll get one The hardware of the gp2x can't be compared to the hardware of a PSP. The PSP is much powerful (graphical unit 3D, DSP, FPU and two MIPS cores, large LCD etc ...). But for emulation of old console, GP2X is good enough

I should have simplified my comment. I just meant it is "cool" that the GP2X plays older games and does not have the restriction that the PSP had or would have ... does have?
I'm a collector of sorts: have an old Atari, NES, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, XBox, and a few other machines (I bought them new). I've found that my family and I seem to have more fun with the older games than we do with the new. that is part of the reason I am so into emulation Of course the 17 almost 18 year old wants a PS3 ( I told him get a job and you can have one)

ID like to know why the atari 2600 emulator keeps crashing to main screen for the F200 so called version.
I have not been able to get any of them to work ever since I bought the F200 model WTF gives? Add Comment
