Saturday, July 1. 2006PSPVBA: GameBoy Advance Emulator for PSP v1.0.3 (more speed)Hi All, Here is a new version of PSPVBA the GameBoy Advance Emulator for PSP. First of all i would like to thanks Tommydanger for his help on bug tracking for the firmware 2.0. What's new in version 1.0.3 : - Always better speed ! - Add new render modes (scanline) - Add FPS/CPU statistics - The Start key is now usable - Sound off increase speed - Many bug fix - Big Code cleaning How to use it ? Have a look to the README.txt file ! Two binary versions (for 2.x and 1.5 FW) and sources are included in the zip archive. This package is under GPL Copyright, read COPYING file for more information about it. pspvba-v1.0.3.zip Enjoy, Zx. This emulator doesn't work with the Tiff exploit on 2.0, so please use the GTA exploit instead. Trackbacks

your the man zx-81!!
seriously you are a really talented coder thanks a whole lot for another quality release, i'm really glad your not giving up on this like so many others did. -jOeBrO This new version doesnt work on 2.6 via gta exploit does it. it seems as though everytime i press select my psp crashes and turns off. this has happened to me before with other apps not on my firmware so if this does work on 2.6 can someone give me an idiots guide on how to install properly. Thankyou
Sur plusieurs roms, le jeu se charge, démarre et au bout de 2min, la psp freeze. Cela me le fais sur une dizaine de roms.
Sinon penses-tu pouvoir rajouter encore un peu de vitesse dans les prochain jour? Merci a toi d'avoir fais cet émulateur. I’m on v1.0.3 and I’ve been through all three versions, one huge flaw is that the emulator doesn’t play games over 12mb. Everything else works great. I’ve tried a 6mb .gba file game, and it worked very well. I’ve been trying to work Pokemon: Fire Red (16mb and compressed to a 11.9mb zip) all three emulator, it gave me a white screen and my PSP turns off. Hopefully v1.0.4 would fix this problem. But plays all other games very well.
I just have to say wonderful job. First off so many updates in very short time. Also with each update incredible speed increase. I can't wait to see what the final version is gonna look like.
I have not this problem, i've tried pokemon fire red and it worked very well, I think your rom is wrong.
Wrong roms? If they work on VBA (PC), then its a working rom. I've tried multiple roms over 12mb, it goes right to a white screen and the PSP turns off.
-BUG-
I dont know how to contact you exactly, but I have a Bug to report. okay, so i was testing Zelda-link to the past, and it runs GREAT, 10 fps at the most, but very smooth, i made my way to beggining when he got out of bed, and i decided to take a Snapshot of it in the EMU menu, after i did so it took me back to the game, froze then shut off the psp. just incase u wanted to know any bugs, IF thats one, there it is. hope it helps. ps, awsome emu, im very much looking forward to future releases. It's very strange, screenshot feature works fine on mine ... I'm using original code to generates .png files. I can put the code i'm using in other emulator to generates .bmp files (it's much bigger), hoping it will fix this issue ?
Zx. well..i have little to no knowledge on homebrew coding, but it MAY have just been my psp, I can check with other games. (I only tested Zelda since i couldn't get any pokemon or Mario advanced to work. by the way for mario, it said Save File corrupted, after i tried the rom in PC VBA, the same thing happend, but after i imported the Battery file, wich was a .SAV. it ran fine, will this ever be an added feature to your emu? just wondering. i know its still early to be asking for things like that, but im just saying, future ideas.
Dans ta prochaine version pourrais-tu inclure un chargeur de code pour les jeu GBA tel que l'action replay ou autre, merci d'avance.
I have a PSP v1.5 and all rom exepted the 32mo worked. If you are in 2.0 or higher may be it's the emulator but all roms worked on my psp.
Going back to the Pokemon: Fire Red thing. I'm having the same problem. The rom works on VBA for my PC, but not on your PSP version, ZX. The same happens with Leaf Green, of course. Emerald works fine, except for time-based events (I'm assuming this hasn't been implemented yet). I remember there was an option you had to adjust in VBA to make this work properly. I'm using FW 1.50 BTW. I'm 100% sure all roms are good. I hope I don't sound like I'm complaining, as I'm just trying to help. Thanks for a great emulator and constant updates.
question zx.
b/c 2.6 doesnt work, you told us that we use the 1.5fw eboot, which i must say does work! however, since the 2.xx version is 1086kb and the 1.5 is 1076kb, does that mean the speed is different? I've noticed that in eboot loader .9 it will show the Please Wait Now Loading Screen, then the memory stick LED flashes and finally it resets back to the eboot loader menu. The CPU is overclocked at 333 mhz in the eboot loader menu after the emulator exits out. While on eloader 0.97 the emulator just freezes up at the Please Wait Now Loading screen and then just crashes the PSP.
Just thought I would let you know. For the pokemon fire red ean green, I don't know. On mine, the game worked properly.
Try First launch it on PC play during 10 minutes and save the game with the emulator, It will create a "name of your rom.SAV" and "name of your rom.SGM." Rename the ".SGM" like it : "sav_name of your rom_0.sgm" After take this to file and copy the .SGM to your psp in PSP/GAME/PSPVBA/SAVE. In the emulator, load the rom, and after load the save, try to play, if there a problem again, I don't know what to do. Friendly bit of advice...It's poor manners to ask a freeware author for a release date only two days after the last release. Many similar projects only see one release in several months. ZX-81 has been kind enough to give us regular releases every few DAYS! I'm sure he's working as fast as he can. Once again, just friendly advice, as these questions get people flamed/banned in many places.
You didn't bless me lol ... I'm not the author of the previous post, even if i'm a bit agree with him ...
Cheers, Zx. i know i shouldnt be asking for this but does anyone know a site where i can download gba roms...i cant seem to find one
Hi, I Don't Get It Right, I'm Trying, But Nothing Happenens.
It Comes Out In The Psp Gba Thing But It Docent Work Cuz It's Says " The Game cannot be started. the data is corrupted" and i try 2 put games bou nothing. I Need Help Plz. Can anyone tell me how to use gameshark cheats for pokemon silver on my psp gameboy emulator? It's making me sick in many different type of ways.
I copied both files of the game directory( the [pspvba] and the [pspvba%]) and put it in the game folder, just as the readme text wrote. it appeared alright on the xmb menu, but when i pressed it, the psp logo came out (which is normal) and after that, it stated tht the game cld nt be started and returned back to the menu. Btw my firmware is 3.71 M33-4.
If you use a fw3.x you have to put it in game150 folder (not game folder).
Btw, this emulator is a dead project, i suggest you to install gpsp (another GBA emulator) which is much better than this one, Cheers, Zx hi i downloaded it onto my psp but when ever i click on it it says..."This game cannotbe started. The data is corrupted."
You need to install a custom firmware on your psp to be able to run any homebrew (see on pspupdates.qj.net or dcemu.co.uk for details).
PSPVba is a dead project, you'd better install gpsp instead ... Zx i figured but i wanna try this cause i dunno how to put the gpsp on my psp properly .... so anyway where do i put the picodrive that i downloaded
never mind i just wanna play my gameboy games on my psp.... and ive been looking for a couple of weeks now to try and figure out how to get it onto my psp if u could help me out a bit i would be very greatful....
i tried to play pokemon ruby game in my pc by using game boy advance but instead of playing a white scrren appeard plz help me i m in urgency
Newest psp can't run any homebrew for the moment. You have to wait a bit for a hack to downgrade your psp and put a custom firmware.
It should come soon in few weeks (exploit has been already found etc ...) Btw, pspvba is not the best GBA emulator, i suggest you to install gpsp which is much better than this one, Zx Add Comment
