Saturday, August 23. 2008PSPWrite: A Text Editor for PSP v1.1.1 (bug fix)Hi All, Here is a new version of PSPWrite the text editor for PSP. It permits to edit even huge text file, in both dos and unix mode, using iso8859-1 (8bits) characters encoding. All iso8859-1 characters are present in the "Danzeff like" virtual keyboard. The IR keyboard support is based on the work of Harald Fielker. It has been developed on linux for Firmware 1.5 and 3.x-m33 and 4.x-m33, and for the IR keyboard part it has been tested using a Targus Universal IR Wireless keyboard on PSP FAT. What's new then in 1.1.1 ? - Bug fix in wrap mode for text using specific iso-8859-1 characters (Thanks to ShadowMaker for reporting this nauty bug) - New built in fonts with various size (8x10, 8x14, 8x16 and 16x22) How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file. Sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public license, read COPYING.txt file for more information about it. pspwrite-v1.1.1-fw4x.zip pspwrite-v1.1.1-fw15.zip pspwrite-v1.1.1-src.zip Enjoy, Zx. don't get me wrong, i love this program, but i find the sony osk a whole lot easier to use. even an on screen qwerty keyboard like go!messenger has would be better. with yours its a pain to type things with both letters and numbers (such as GS/PAR codes). just easier to have them all in the same place.
Thanks for another update, I hope to get around to installing it soon (my laptop power cord died, so my net time is limited).
hi! i like your program for reading text files on the go..
can you please include the "search" function on the next update? thanks! I wanted to ask if I'm allowed to translate the Texteditor to German. (I already translated the menus for my self, and found out that I can't use letters like öüä)
Hi,
This homebrew is distributed under GPL license, so you can do exactly what you want with it, but you have to distribute the source code of the modified version, and include the COPYING file in your archive (See COPYING.txt file). Now about the issue with iso 8859-1 characters, you have to use source text editor that can handle 8859-1 properly ... Zx Hi Zx,
I used your program on 3.52 M33-4 and I loved it. However, I recently upgraded to 4.01 M33-2, and I can no longer get it to work. I downloaded the cfw4x version and tried putting it in my GAME, GAME150, and GAME4XX folders and I've also tried changing the kernel (I have the 1.50 add-on, btw). Every time, it starts loading and gets to the PSPWrite splash screen, but then it doesn't go any further. I can still press the home button, but if I try to exit, the system will say "Please wait" and freeze. Could you help me please? -lotrfan I have the 4.01 M33-2, too.
My PSP is Slim&Light and it works correctly on it. Probably you only do not wait long enough course the splash screen is displayed for quit a while. 5s or so. Hi,
You can press a key to skip the splash screen, Zx

Zx and Blutelf, thanks for the suggestions, but every time I wait at least 15 seconds and pressing buttons doesn't do anything either. I am downgrading to 3.90 M33 today, and hopefully this will fix the issue. At the very least, I'll be able to run nethost in iRshell and PSPVNC .
-lotrfan If you press Start or Cross it should exit the splash screen ...
